In the Community EncountersEducational Encounters from Animal Days Out CIC

As part of our community interest commitment, Animal Days Out C.I.C. can provide schools, nurseries, charities, trusts and other organisations serving the community with animal fun and educational encounters at their own venue or location at a subsidised cost. We cater for both in-school, after school and weekend clubs, events, youth service initiatives or open days. If you want something a little bit different for your activity days, then our encounters are both educational and of course fun!

Working Within The Community

We already work quite closely with a number of local organisations, schools and after school groups,  providing educational animal encounters to a whole range of age groups and people from many varied backgrounds. Our scope extends to providing an opportunity for disadvantaged and disabled adults and young people to have a chance to learn, touch and feel a range of different animals. We have also worked with leaders within local scouts, cubs, beavers and brownie groups, offering a unique animal encounter experience to young people and adults.

As we provide this service through our community interest company it allows us to subsidise and discount the price of our encounters ensuring that we can deliver an opportunity to provide education and fun to those that will really benefit from it.

Interactive and Fun

These interactive sessions are specifically designed to encourage young people and adults to investigate, absorb and learn information about the animals being presented. The sessions provide an understanding of the habitat, feeding habits and nature of each animal. We can pitch our learning experience to the age group attending, making it both informative and easy to understand. Whether its a toddler or pre-school nursery or an autistic young people group, we have a track record of adapting and providing the right level of information to the appropraite level of the ability of the people we are presenting to. The sessions include a whole range of animals including invertebrates, amphibians and reptiles, but will also focus on people's favourite fluffy large and small mammals.

For Schools - Learning Foundations

Although our animal encounters can be booked purely for a fun learning session, we can also align each session to the Foundation, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 syllabus for example.

We can design your educational encounter specifically around the age group of the children taking part. With emphasis on fun and learning, we can cater from pre-school nursery, through reception, infants and juniors, right up to senior school levels year 6 to year 11. We can tailor your encounter with a focus on a specific initiative or project.

Activity Days

Our Educational Encounters are closely aligned to our own Activity Club and Activity Day sessions, providing children with an opportunity to get close to wildlife, where perhaps they have never had that opportunity before. For more information please visit our In the Community section.

Fit Your Budget

Our prices are subsidised for all 'In the Community' encounters and can be adjusted to fit your budget and funding capabilities. We understand that not all organisations have large disposable cash funding and rely on goodwill, subs or donations. We are more than happy to discuss your situation and provide an encounter that you can afford.

We further offer discounts for organisations with multiple locations wishing to roll out a number of encounters across their group.

Our Rates

Our basic rate is £140 for up to 2 hours. Most of our community encounters have required at least two hours, therefore we aim to subsidise our normal private rate of £150 per hour into a 2 hour event. After all, the money we receive goes straight back into the community company allowing us to provide more encounters to those that most need it.

Give Us A Try

Volunteers WantedWe Want You As A New Recruit

We want you as a new recruit!

If you would love to work with animals or work in the wonderful environment of wildlife and nature, we are looking for some keen people to help out from time to time as a volunteer. We are always on the look out for like-minded individuals to help out at Animal Days Out C.I.C. We would love to have a large team of seasoned professionals within our ranks, but the reality of our situation is that we simply have to rely on the goodwill, generosity and kindness of people as passionate about animals, wildlife and nature as we are.

Opportunities

As we provide our animal encounters in the community, we often require additional volunteers to help out with various events and encounters. We know that 2013 will be a very busy year for the team and we would welcome like-minded individuals who would like to get involved and help out from time to time. Our work is public facing and we often work with children, young people, disadvantaged people and the disabled, therefore there are a number of opportunities for people with experience in these areas or willing to learn. Future Prospects?

We are actively looking at a number of funding streams for projects and initiatives that may lead to paid roles in the future. Our belief as a community company is to build a business where by we can provide employment opportunities to local people with the services we can provide.  Becoming a volunteer can often be a good career move! You may start as a volunteer, but in time the role could develop and could turn into a permanent position.
