Early Years: Nurseries, Pre-schools and Childrens Centre’s

For Nurseries and Pre-schools, our workshops support the EYFS. As Childrens Centres can vary in attending age range, all workshop sessions will be pitched according to the age of the children that are present on the day.

Minibeasts

A popular favourite with schools, nurseries and children’s centres! In a very hands on and interactive session, the children will have the opportunity to learn how some animals have backbones and some don’t. We also introduce the concept that animals can be placed in different groups and how many legs they have helps us do this. A very gentle and hands on workshop for inquisitive youngsters.

Caring for Pets and Other Creatures

In this workshop, we talk about pets and how we look after and care for some of our own special animals. It includes some fabulous facts and we discuss diets of different animals.  We cover the basics of animal handling and the correct way to handle and interact with some of the more common pets.

Animals from Around the World

This workshop will cover a variety of animals from around the continent. We explain where they come from and how their bodies are adapted to their own habitats in the wild and their natural protection.

Predators and Prey

In this workshop we have a light interactive discussion about some common native predators and their prey and how this food chain in part of nature helps humans and the planet. We then move onto some exotic examples of predators and their prey including some fantastic small invertebrates who are also excellent predators.

Sensory Session

This is a lovely gentle workshop experiencing different textures of some animals, encouraging description and interaction with our staff for those children able to vocalise. We discuss together how humans and animals use their senses in similar or different ways. This can be adapted for children with additional needs and sensory sensitivities - please speak with one of our therapy team for more information.

Creepy Creatures

This is a popular session for Halloween time and special events – our team will bring a variety of those creatures that are traditionally viewed as “Creepy”. We won’t spoil the surprise by telling you which of our animals will visit but you might take a guess with your group about who may come to say hello!

Party Time!

If you are looking for something a little bit different for your end of term party or a special mid-term event, we can provide you a fun interactive session with a chance to meet and greet lots of different animals for that special occasion.

Schools Reviews

"The children had a fantastic time and enjoyed meeting you all. I really hope we have the opportunity to work with you again." - Mrs Gillett from Copnor Infants School - Portsmouth

"I just wanted to drop you a line to say a massive thank you to you and your wonderful staff for the numerous workshops that you put on for us yesterday. The staff room and classrooms have been buzzing about the day, and it is evident that the children were all totally enthused. The year 6 teacher told me it was lovely to see their class with the look of a year 1 awe and wonder in their eyes. Your teams were so knowledgeable about the animals, and supported the children in their experiences. The staff have actually asked if you could come back next year! Please pass on my thanks to the team." - Mrs Brown from Applecroft Primary School - Welwyn Garden City

"The children have all gained so much from the experience and teachers have cleverly organised curriculum opportunities so that I'm still seeing photos and work relating to snakes, spiders etc around the school! - Mrs Lilley from Birkbeck Primary School - Sidcup
