Get Close Up with our Photography Days

Capture close-up shots of exotic animals with a unique photography class designed to improve your photography skills. If you're wild about photography and go crazy for wildlife then this is the ideal experience for you! During this full day photography MasterClass, you'll discover the art of capturing inspired shots of a large range of exotic animals, with expert tuition on how to get the most out of your own camera. You'll have incredibly close-up access to a variety of the most colourful and photogenic animals in the world such as lizards, snakes, amphibians, and invertebrates - a unique opportunity you'd never have in a zoo or wildlife park. The day offers new, beginners, intermediate or seasoned enthusiasts in photography a chance and take some amazing close up shots of exotic animals using macro techniques.

Its a full day photography experience and we will be joined on the day with our good friend and professional photographer Geoff Bruce, who will be at your beck and call providing advice, hints, tips and the occasional bad joke! Our venue will be at the Eltham Environmental Centre, in the heart of a beautiful 9 acre wildlife reserve.

Time - 9.30am for a 10am start - Finish 4pm

Overview

How about some stunning close up shots of a Panther Chameleon? You can safely take some incredible shots of a Tarantula spider. Capture the textures and features of reptiles and invertebrates that are difficult to see with the naked eye. We have a variety of animals including dragons, tree frogs, gecko's, snakes, beetles, scorpions, monitors, stick insects, praying mantis, chameleon and tarantula to name but a few! *

Agenda

Located in a beautiful wildlife reserve in Eltham, South-East London, you will be based in a workshop, with three studio set-up areas including lighting and props, ensuring everyone has plenty of access to the animals. This means that you can spent as much or as little time with each set-up as you wish. We can also provide the loan of some zoom lenses and filters if required. Your day begins at 10am. The class will begin with an introduction and overview of the key technical settings of your camera. Next, get straight down to the business of photographing some of the easier subjects throughout the morning session. During your lunch break you're free to wander the tranquil gardens around the centre or review your morning's work with critique and advice from our expert photographer. In the afternoon you'll focus on some of the more challenging animals before returning to some of the more popular animals at the end of the day. Expert advice and technical assistance will be available throughout the day to help you get the best light settings, composition and speeds to capture great shots throughout the day. The class will finish at 4pm.

Is The Day For You?

The day is aimed at people, who may be new or beginners to photography and would like to learn more in a friendly informal environment. This experience will also extend your knowledge of macro photography techniques and using a digital SLR camera to best effect. Intermediate photographers can take on the challenge of some detailed macro work they may not have experienced before. Our professional photographer will ensure that your camera is set-up correctly and will provide technical help as and when required throughout the day. The experience is also perfect for those who may be less interested in the technical aspects of photography but love animals and want some great memorable shots to take home. More experienced photographers are welcome to join the group and benefit from the exclusive access that is not generally available to the public! You won't have glass or plastic refelctions to contend with or wire or mesh to squeeze your lens through!

In a Nutshell

You must bring your camera with you on the day; a digital SLR camera is recommended but not essential, standard and compact digital cameras are also welcome. We provide you with advice of 'What to Bring' and for 'Preparations and Guidelines' once your experience has been purchased. The minimum age is 16 years. Complimentary tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits are available throughout the day.

Don't Miss Out!

This experience runs on selected dates throughout the year. All dates are subject to availability. We restrict each date to just 9 attendees. This ensures that everyone gets a fair share of time spent shooting the animals, without hanging around or waiting your turn.

*The availability of the animals on the day may vary. Notice will be given nearer the time of the event to the type of animals that will be available on your day.

Photo Day Reviews

"Just a line to say how much I enjoyed the Photography Day. Some useful advice from the pro photographer as well as information regarding the animals themselves. Once again thanks for a great day" - Trevor from Addlestone, Surrey

"Thanks so much for a unique day in front of some amazing animals. My expectations for the day were not only met, but hugely exceeded thanks to you and your excellent professional photographer. I'm a bit of a novice, but with your help I captured plenty of images, I must admit, that i am rather proud of. A huge thank you for making my birthday present from my daughter, something I will always remember. - Jeanie from Sevenoaks, Kent
